Setup issues
Hosted bot will not verify
Symptoms
- Kao says the hosted bot is not detected.
- The server still shows as not ready after you approve the invite.
Fixes
- Make sure the Discord invite was completed.
- Confirm you selected the same server in Kao and Discord.
- Check that the hosted bot is still in the server.
- Click verify again.
- If needed, remove the failed install and invite the hosted bot again.
BYOB token is invalid
Symptoms
- Kao rejects the token.
- Your connected bot goes offline after a token reset.
Fixes
- Open the Discord Developer Portal.
- Select your application.
- Open Bot.
- Reset and copy the token.
- Paste the new token into Kao.
Resetting a token makes the old token stop working immediately.
Server does not appear
Symptoms
- A server is missing from a dropdown.
- You cannot choose the expected target server.
Fixes
- Confirm your Discord account has access to that server.
- Make sure the hosted bot or BYOB bot is installed.
- Check whether a server admin needs to grant shared access.
- If you just linked a BYOB bot to the server, refresh the dashboard so Kao reloads target server capacity.
- Sign out and back in to refresh your Discord server list.
Import issues
Server is at emoji capacity
Symptoms
- Imports, restores, rotations, or syncs fail because the server is full.
Fixes
- Delete unused emojis.
- Choose a different target server.
- Reduce the batch size.
- Boost the server if your community wants more emoji slots.
Bot lacks permission
Symptoms
- Kao reports missing permissions.
- Emoji creation, rename, or delete actions fail.
Fixes
- Open the server’s Discord role settings.
- Find the hosted bot or BYOB bot role.
- Enable Manage Emojis and Stickers.
- Make sure the bot role is high enough for the action.
- Reinvite the bot if the role is difficult to repair.
Import is slow or pending
Symptoms
- Progress stays pending.
- A large batch takes several minutes.
Fixes
- Check Activity for the current status.
- Wait for Discord’s emoji change limit to clear.
- Import fewer emotes at once for urgent changes.
- Confirm your daily import allowance has not been reached.
Search returns no results
Symptoms
- A known emote does not appear.
- Search results are empty.
Fixes
- Try a shorter search term.
- Switch source filters.
- Search by creator or set when using 7TV.
- Try again later if a source platform is unavailable.
Server and dashboard issues
Wrong server selected
Symptoms
- Emojis are going to the wrong server.
- You are viewing the wrong emoji list.
Fixes
- Check the server icon and name in the selector.
- Reopen the action and choose the correct target.
- Rename servers in Discord if similar names are causing confusion.
Buttons or pages do not respond
Symptoms
- The dashboard loads but actions do not finish.
- A page appears stuck.
Fixes
- Refresh the page.
- Sign out and back in.
- Try a private browser window.
- Disable extensions that block scripts or popups.
- Try another browser.
Symptoms
- The hosted bot invite does not open.
- Browser reports a blocked popup.
Fixes
- Allow popups for usekao.com.
- Click the invite link again.
- Copy the shown invite URL if Kao provides one.
Billing issues
Plan did not activate
Symptoms
- You completed checkout but the dashboard still shows locked features.
Fixes
- Refresh the Billing page.
- Sign out and back in.
- For crypto payments, wait until NowPayments marks the payment complete. Hosted invoice payments can remain pending while the network confirms.
- Start a new checkout if the crypto invoice expired or was canceled.
- Contact support if the crypto payment is complete, partially paid, or paid with the wrong asset and the plan stays inactive.
Coupon did not apply
Symptoms
- Checkout shows the wrong price.
- Trial or discount is missing.
Fixes
- Re-enter the coupon code.
- Confirm the coupon applies to the selected plan and billing interval.
- Start checkout again from Kao.
Account issues
Cannot sign in with Discord
Symptoms
- Discord redirects back without signing you in.
- The dashboard returns to the landing page.
Fixes
- Clear cookies for usekao.com.
- Try another browser.
- Check Discord status.
- Sign in again from usekao.com.
Session expired
Symptoms
- Kao asks you to sign in again.
- A dashboard action says your session expired.
Fixes
Sign in again. If it happens repeatedly, clear cookies for usekao.com and retry.
